Michele is one of Acquaint’s Personal Carers. We asked Michele to let us know what she liked about Acquaint. In this update, Michele describes her experience with us.
“I’d been working as a personal carer for the elderly at a home care provider for about five years. Recently I felt like I was being pressured to take on work that didn’t suit me, sent to places that were so far from home and lots of short shifts. I loved my elderly clients but just never got to spend enough time with them.
I remember seeing the Personal Care ad on Seek and was blown away by how much it stood out. Then I read what they had to offer and I thought maybe this is the company for me.
How right I was! They are extremely professional and organised an interview at one of their offices. One of the big differences was that they really wanted to know about me and my experience. Of course they did ask to see all my at home aged care qualifications, police check and licences too. My referees told me they really checked out things and were very thorough with the reference checks.
Induction was amazing and again really professionally done. It was really nice to be able to ask questions and do the online mandatory training courses straight away. They were really good to do and we have access to the training app so I can choose as many of the other courses as I like. I’m doing some personal development courses at the moment.
My first shift was really good and I love seeing my clients each week. We use an app to see our shifts months in advance which also means I can plan holidays, and the care plans are easy to follow. If I need to I can look up policies and even call the office direct from the app. The support I get from the office is fantastic and we have regular catch-ups to see how I’m going.
We also have a great reward program and I have referred a couple of friends to Acquaint and I can already see how many reward points I’ve got. It is a really fair system.
Last but not least – the pay rates are great!”
