It’s no secret that a new year calls for new promises.
Not the dreary kind about eating more kale, of course. But, rather, the exciting kind of resolutions that make life a little easier, a lot more enjoyable – and entirely on your terms.
At least, that’s the way our Acquaint clients look at it.
Curious about what they’re hoping for in 2025? We’ve rounded up some of our favourite New Year’s resolutions to show you how it’s done.
This year, I will… get help for the trickier jobs
Why should I keep wrestling with stubborn jar lids and heavy furniture?
It’s not a competition, darling. And I’m certainly not winning any trophies for lugging laundry baskets up the stairs. Nor would I want to, mind you.
From now on, I’ll let the professionals handle it – while I enjoy a cup of tea and supervise like the responsible adult I am.
This year, I will… get a chauffeur
Parallel parking was never my strong suit. And frankly, the tram drivers are far too bold for my liking these days.
So, I think it’s time to give up my driver’s licence. Trading in my car keys for a personal driver feels like the height of safety, I suppose. But I also consider it the height of sophistication.
Now, I can sip a latte en route to the golf club while someone else worries about Melbourne’s traffic and parking madness.
This year, I will… finally admit I don’t enjoy ironing
Let’s be honest: I’ve never loved the smell of starch, and my attempts at crisp shirt collars – while undeniably inspired – don’t feel as rewarding as they used to.
So, from now on, someone else can have the joy of pressing my linens while I lounge in said linens.
Somehow, I think I’ll be able to live with that.
This year, I will… take up ballroom dancing again
Once upon a time, I could quickstep with the best of them. But who says the music has to stop just because I’m a little more… mature?
With a sturdy companion and someone to mind my balance, I’m ready to glide across the floor again – sequins and all.
I only hope I don’t intimidate too many of the other dancers when they catch a glimpse of my waltzing prowess.
This year, I will… indulge in life’s little luxuries
The silk dressing gown I’ve been eyeing? It’s practically begging to be mine. A fresh bouquet for my dining table every Sunday? Seems only reasonable. The fancy biscuits for tea? Why not?
Life’s too short for scratchy threads, smelly spaces and subpar snacks. From now on, I’m saying yes to everything that makes my heart sing.
So, if someone could just get me down to High Street (and hold all my quickly accumulating shopping bags), that would be fabulous.
This year, I will… travel to dream locations
I’ve always dreamed of taking another Mediterranean cruise or visiting the vineyards in Sicily.
But this time, I’m doing it right. Bags packed for me, itinerary sorted and a switched-on companion who’ll ensure I don’t miss a thing.
And if they just so happen to wrangle me the best table at the captain’s dinner? What great initiative, by them.
This year, I will… host more gatherings
My dining table has been far too quiet lately, and that simply won’t do.
In fact, it seems a slight against my esteemed community to have deprived them of an event hosted by yours truly for quite so long a stretch.
So it’s time to get back on the horse. And with a little help in the kitchen and some assistance setting the scene, I’ll be hosting soirées again that would make even Gatsby envious.
Champagne, anyone?
This year, I will… get back in the garden
As the scent of my neighbour’s roses in bloom drifts through my open window, all I feel is the burning flame of jealousy.
Let’s be honest, with my green thumb, a garden of mine would put any other to shame.
So why withhold my natural-given talent from the world? With an extra set of hands to dig, plant and prune where and when I say, it’s only a matter of time before my yard is the talk of the town once again.
